Academics

Curious minds, confident learners

The CBSE curriculum, taught for understanding rather than by rote, by teachers who know every learner’s strengths, interests and challenges.

Overview

Nurturing students to become confident learners

OTGS follows the curriculum prescribed by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi: structured, comprehensive and future-focused, designed to help students grow intellectually, emotionally and socially.

Meaningful learning begins with dedicated educators. Our qualified, experienced and passionate teachers stay at the forefront of teaching practice through regular in-house professional development, and use student-centred, interactive methods that promote curiosity, collaboration and real-world application.

Beyond academic rigour, we develop essential life skills and digital literacy. Students use technology meaningfully for research, analysis and creative expression. And because play is a powerful tool for learning, children in the early years enjoy indoor and outdoor play, while older students take part in structured physical education sessions every week.

Children stay with the same group from KG through UKG, building friendships and a strong classroom community. The move into Grade 1 is marked with a convocation ceremony, and in Primary children meet new peer groups to build adaptability and collaboration.

Schooling stages

Four stages, one continuous journey

OTGS is organised into four distinct phases: Pre-Primary, Primary, Middle School and Secondary.

Pre-Primary

Building confidence and character in the early years

Our pre-primary classes foster each child’s cognitive, social, emotional and physical development through a rich variety of learning experiences. Play-based learning lets children explore, create and solve problems, while activities that weave together arts, crafts, stories and play introduce concepts in language, mathematics and science.

At this stage, children discover the joy of independence: making friends, following a routine and expressing themselves. Songs and rhymes build language; free and guided play builds fine and gross motor skills. Children work in small groups and as a whole class, and every pre-primary class is supported by two teachers.

Primary

A foundation for lifelong learning

Our Primary Programme lays the groundwork for academic excellence, critical thinking and independent learning. An academically rigorous curriculum is integrated with the creative arts and presented imaginatively to engage children physically, cognitively and emotionally.

We follow an “i-Homework” policy in the early primary years: instead of traditional homework, daily learning and reading are woven into the school day, keeping learning engaging and stress-free. As students progress, they are introduced to integrated knowledge, with particular strength in English, Mathematics and Environmental Studies (EVS).

Middle School

A stage of discovery

Middle School students are ready for deeper, more discrete subjects taught by specialist teachers, including the challenge of additional languages. In Class 6, Hindi and Sanskrit are introduced as a third language, alongside English, Mathematics, Computer Science, Marathi, Science and Social Studies.

Science becomes more detailed as Physics, Chemistry and Biology, while Social Science becomes more specialised as History-Civics and Geography. Project-based learning, collaborative tasks and real-world connections guide students to become confident, independent learners.

Secondary

Excellence for the board years and beyond

At the secondary level we focus on academic excellence while guiding each student’s personal development. Weekly cycle tests, structured notes, worksheets and practice papers build exam readiness steadily, never through rote memorisation.

Career guidance and value-based education help students make thoughtful choices about the future, so they leave OTGS prepared not only for board examinations, but for higher studies, careers and life.

Carefully selected

Every member of our academic team is chosen for their qualifications, experience and passion for teaching, with strong foundations in the CBSE curriculum and a commitment to ongoing professional growth.

Student-centred

Our teachers take the time to understand each learner. Through differentiated instruction, one-on-one support and engaging classroom strategies, they meet each child where they are, and help them go further than they imagined.

Always learning

Teachers collaborate, share best practice and continuously upskill. Their goal is not just academic achievement but the holistic development of every student: creativity, critical thinking, empathy and self-confidence.

Inclusion & wellbeing

Every child is unique, and no child is left behind

Our approach embraces diversity, welcoming students with varying abilities, backgrounds and learning styles. Whether a child needs extra academic support or is ready for enrichment beyond the curriculum, we tailor our teaching to their needs.

It begins at admission, when we take time to understand each child’s strengths and areas of need, and continues through regular observation, open communication with parents and active collaboration among teachers.

A child’s emotional, social and behavioural wellbeing matters as much as academics. Teachers act as mentors in a safe, respectful and encouraging space where students feel heard and valued, and parents are our partners in building a consistent support system from school to home.

“At OTGS, inclusion and wellbeing are not additional features. They are woven into the very fabric of our school culture.”
